The tragic loss of our teen son on Sept. 27, 2008 in a motor vehicle crash, while visiting overnight with friends led us to realize that motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death for U. S. teens, according to the Center for Disease and Control (CDC). My Wife and I, with the help of friends and neighbors in the community, formed an organization aimed at making a difference in the community through education, sharing information and promoting awareness to the dangers and destructive decisions facing our teens while behind the wheels of a motor vehicle either as a driver or a passenger.

Our son was a back seat passenger in a one car accident. The car was driven by a very good friend who was driving at night with a license he had just obtained three weeks earlier.

The name of the organization is CHRIS, which stands for Community Hope Resource Initiative Service, named after our son, Christopher who was 16 and a John Jay High school junior.

The mission of the group is to make a Difference in the community through promoting teen driving safety via improved communications, awareness, sharing information and providing resources to save young lives.

Please be a responsible driver and a conscientious passenger!
